College Heights Baptist Church

Please Welcome Our New Pastor

Lentz Upshaw and His Family

Lentz Upshaw moved to Manhattan on Oct. 1 with his family to become the Lead Pastor at
College Heights. He and his wife Amy have been married for 21 years. They have 5 children,
Hannah, Joshua, Josiah, Isaiah, and Elijah. Lentz and Amy both grew up in Kansas and
graduated from Kansas State University. They met while in college through the Baptist Student
Union campus ministry (now Christian Challenge). They were both active in ministry while in
college and both served on staff with BSU Christian Challenge after graduation. Amy served for
2 years and Lentz for 7 years.

In 2001 the Upshaw family moved to Madison, WI to do campus ministry on the University of
Wisconsin - Madison campus. During the 13 years in Madison the ministry on campus
involved small group Bible Studies, one-on-one discipleship, evangelistic conversations on
campus and domestic and international mission trips. Lentz received his Master of Divinity
Degree from Midwestern Baptist Theological Seminary in 2004. In 2011, the Upshaws joined
Red Village Church, a church plant near the UW-Madison campus and about a year later Lentz
became one of the pastors of Red Village Church.

All 5 of the children are home-schooled and are very active. Some of the kids have been in
choirs and musicals. Soccer, baseball, and basketball are some of the favorite sports to play in
their household. And Lentz and Amy get into the mix sometimes as well by coaching and
helping out with the organizational end of things.

Amy lived in Manhattan for 13 years previously and Lentz for 14 years so in a sense they are
coming home to the Little Apple and looking forward to what God is going to do here.
